Mountain Shop is excited to welcome Catherine Jager to the ambassador family! Catherine is co-founder of POC Nordic, a local group leading nordic ski clinics for women of color throughout the winter, as well as, fundraising for, and supplying nordic gear scholarships to women of color. Catherine is passionate about getting more people of color access to winter sports and is actively engaged in making that happen! She is a community leader for Trail Mixed Collective here in Portland, a scholarship recipient with Women of Winter, a 2022 instructor with Open Slopes, a Level 1 PSIAA-AASI Certified Ski Instructor, a Coalition Snow (in collaboration with Deenaalee Hodgkin) Indigenous Backcountry Scholarship recipient, and was a Mountaineering Leadership I course participant through Climbers of Color. When not outside, Catherine is an educator and advocate, working with educators on the implementation of Tribal History/Shared History, Ethnic Studies Standards, and other genocide standards. Catherine grew up in Wasco, Paiute, and Warm Spring land (Bend, OR) and was introduced to nordic skiing, camping, backpacking, and hiking by her mom and dad when she was young. She has been section hiking the PCT with her dad for several years and they will be finishing the Washington section as her dad turns 72!
