Review:

Have you ever gone on a summer adventure only to find that you have somehow managed to sunburn the backs of your hands, even though you put sunscreen on them!? Sunburning the backs of your hands is almost as crappy as sunburning the tops of your Oregon-winter feet after one sunny spring day at the beach! After numerous summer ski mountaineering, hiking, climbing, paddleboarding and watersport adventures wherein the backs of my hands got a bit too much sun, I finally purchased the Outdoor Research ActiveIce Sun Gloves. These gloves are a game changer! I wore them for the first time this season during a late spring ski up South Sister and hardly noticed I was wearing them. The palms have a nice grippy texture making it easy to operate ski poles, ice axe, paddleboard paddle, kayak paddle, etc. I spent about 12 hours out in VERY intense sun (I applied SPF 60 numerous times on my face, and legs, and still managed to get some sunburn in those areas!) I don’t have a photo, but the day after my hike I noticed that the only spot of sun evidence on my arms was the tiny gap next to my watch that I didn’t ensure was covered by my sunshirt or sun gloves.  These gloves will go with me on every sunny adventure from now on!

Who it’s for:

Active outdoor adventurers who want to prevent sunburn on hands.  These would also provide protection in overcast conditions when the UV rays get a bit sneaky. They’d probably protect against wind exposure as well!
