MOUNTAIN SHOP AMBASSADOR HEADS TO CHAMONIX

Mountain Shop ambassador, Yassine DiBoun will be racing in the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc races this month!

Yassine Diboun will be racing TDS

TDS is a 145km (90 mile) race with 9100 meters of elevation gain alongside 1600 other runners on August 24th. The run starts in Courmayeur, Italy and finishes in Chamonix, France with a cutoff time of 44 hours.

To qualify for this race, Yassine had to collect eight points over 2 races in the year 2020. Because only 2 races are allowed to gain those points, you have to do either two 4-point races, or one 5-point race and a second 3-point race. A standard 50k with average elevation gain is usually worth 2 points and as the races increase in elevation gain and mileage they are worth more points. They get burly pretty quickly! For example, Mountain Lakes 100 was a 2021 UTMB qualifier race and awarded 5 points.

The course is beautiful, technical, wild, and demanding. TDS is short for "Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie" (following the footprints of the Dukes of Savoie). It links the Aosta Valley of Northwestern Italy to the Savoie in Southeastern France, allowing runners to discover the villages of the Tour du Mont-Blanc and the mountains that surround them. To cross this unique playground is to walk where history and mountains, the technical terrain and the kindness of its inhabitants blend together.
