Wilderness as a Climate Solution

Wilderness as a Climate Solution
Learn about how climate change is affecting the high elevations in the West with a focus on one the most vulnerable areas - the Southwest. From off-road vehicles to drilling for oil and gas, some of the most spectacular public lands in the West are under great threat.  Impacts extend to the ski slopes of CO to Colorado River white water.

Dr. Don McKenzie, author of  "Mountains in the Greenhouse: Climate Change and the Mountains of the Western USA."  will provide an overview of climate change impacts on mountains in the West and focus on the highly vulnerable landscapes of Utah's Red Rock wild.

Jenny Holmes, WA-OR Field Organizer for Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance will share the award-winning "Wild Utah" short film and how a bill in Congress, America's Red Rock Wilderness Act, will help the US achieve President Biden's goal of protecting 30 percent of nature for biodiversity and the climate.
