Marco Carter was born in Urbana Illinois and began his climbing career by free-soloing four story trees and raising his parent's blood pressure. After graduating tree climbing (and high school) Marco moved to Spokane Washington to complete a double B.A. in K-12 Special Education and English at Gonzaga University; before moving to the Matanuska Susitna Valley in Alaska. While in Alaska Marco taught special education during the school year and worked as a mountain guide for Alaska Mountain Guides Int. during the summers. In 2014 Marco moved to Boulder Colorado where he worked as a youth coach and climbing instructor at Movement Climbing + Fitness. While living in Boulder Marco completed over 50 trad climbing pitches in the nearby areas of Eldorado Canyon, Boulder Canyon and Estes Park. Marco now works full time in Portland as an apartment manager, part time at the Mountain Shop, and has his sights on completing an AMGA Rock Guide program within the next few years.
