Jen grew up on the lakes and tromping around the piney, snowy woods of northern Michigan where she enjoyed skiing, ice-skating, kayaking, fishing, and other water sports. Jen made her way to the City of Chicago for 8 years, where she sat in her office dreaming of mountains and being outdoors. She moved to Portland after that to pursue being an art librarian and finally made her dreams a reality, librarian by week and outdoor adventurer/professional by weekend. Jen volunteers as a recreational climbing educator, provides outdoor exposure for at-risk youth as an instructor and guide, and supports local public/academic libraries. Jen also professionally guides hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, mountaineering, and skiing. She is trained in AIARE Avalanche Level I, AIARE Avalanche Rescue, and AIARE Avalanche Level 2, Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer, Certified Yoga Instructor-200 Hour, and Single Pitch Instructor.
